Public health is a specialized field of science that enables public health professionals to prevent and manage the outbreak of dreadful diseases and to build healthy societies across the world. People working in the field of public health have a mix of academic qualifications and they are different in the type of public health-related functions they perform. Some work in wellness training and education, healthcare services, environmental health, epidemiology, dietetics, women and infant health, etc. Regulatory agencies have suggested the three most important goals of the public health profession. These goals are to safeguard, enhance and improvise the health of the general population over and above the established boundaries.
To safeguard refers to examining and determining the positive aspects and the pitfalls related to any medical therapy. To enhance refers to informing the general population of the possible advantages of a health-related product or device. To improvise indicates motivating and supporting scientists to develop more and more breakthrough solutions that can have the potential to detect or treat common health problems. Numerous efficient training courses in public health are required in many parts across the world especially the developing regions so as to produce trained public health professionals.
The function of public health enables the government to come up with health policies for people that have high chances of being infected with a certain disease, figuring out the country’s health problems, and functioning in the direction of providing easy access to healthcare set-ups for the community.
