Program Overview

This is a Dual Master’s Degree Program. The student is awarded an MPH Degree from International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, Italy, and MPH in Health Economics and Policy from James Lind Institute, Switzerland.

 

This program has been designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of health economics and policy development and implementation. There is no requirement for any prior training or knowledge in economics. Students are expected to learn advanced skills in critical analyses, understanding of global health policies, and micro-economic and macro-economic factors that influence health policies. This intense program provides students with exposure to complex economic challenges faced by health organizations globally. Students who complete this course find opportunities in a wide variety of organizations including health agencies, international health organizations, NGOs, academia and governmental agencies involved in health delivery and promotion. Our alumni also have demonstrated accelerated advancement in their careers due they demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in economics related to healthcare.

 

The James Lind Institute and the International Telematic University, UNINETTUNO, Rome, Italy (Università Telematica Internazionale UniNettuno ‘UTIU’) have collaborated to bring to you a very unique opportunity to earn a Master’s degree in Public Health via the Master of Science in Public Health Management Program. Alongside this MPH Degree, this program leads to the award of a Master of Public Health in Health Economics and Policy from James Lind Institute.

Pathway for MPH in Health Economics and Policy

 

Stage 1: Complete Master of Science in Public Health Management (MPH)

 

Upon enrollment in this program students will first complete the Advanced Diploma in Public Health Management which typically is completed in 36 weeks and is comprised of 42 ECTS Credits. This program comprises of 18 Core Courses and 3 Elective Courses chosen from a list of Elective Courses available to the student. The student will then transfer to International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, Rome, Italy to complete the MPH program with the award of 90 ECTS Credits. This is explained in detail here.

 

Stage 2: Complete Specialization in Health Economics and Policy

 

Upon completion of the MPH program at International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, the student will initiate a specialization in Sexual and Reproductive Health at James Lind Institute. This specialization earns the student a total of 48 ECTS Credits. Combining these 48 ECTS Credits with 42 ECTS credits earned from Advanced Diploma in Public Health Management, a total of 90 ECTS credits leads to the award of MPH in Health Economics and Policy from James Lind Institute, Switzerland.

This dual degree program has been developed for health professionals or graduates with experience in any area of public health who aspire to grow to senior leadership and management roles in the field of public health. The degree is set mainly within the framework of the public and national government health services, while also being applicable for managers of Not-for-profit organizations, international health agencies, and private healthcare set-ups.

In addition to focusing on the core public health sector, this specialized master’s degree in Health Economics & Policy will enable students to use statistics and other methods to solve public health issues; understand the burden of disease; measure and calculate health outcomes; and evaluate the analytical methods and techniques in areas of health services research and health policy.
