Epidemiology is a scientific discipline of high importance. Finding the distribution of disease, casualty assessment, source identification, control measures and the interplay of the preventive health measures with socio-political, ethical, and scientific factors forms the backbone of this unique science.
The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed many fields including epidemiology. Like many disciplines that are directly or indirectly engaged in the study of COVID-19, epidemiologists are leading in research and policy implementations globally. The practice of epidemiology is fast expanding with contributions of researchers from other disciplines like mathematics, information technology, geographical sciences, and physics. The need for quality, in-depth, detailed, interdisciplinary, ethical, and timely epidemiological data has created a major demand for accomplished epidemiology professionals at all levels for satisfying the needs of policymakers, public health practitioners, researchers, and the media.
The ‘MPH Epidemiology and Biostatistics program provides an in-depth understanding of epidemiology study designs, methods, and operations, infectious and chronic disease epidemiology, policy aspects, genomic epidemiology, biostatistics and data analytics.
