Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is a fundamental element of universal human rights and aims to achieve the highest possible standard of physical and mental health. To achieve the ultimate goal that all are healthy individuals living in a healthy society, Sexual and Reproductive Health needs, issues and problems need to be scientifically and ethically considered and addressed.
It is increasingly being recognized that Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is a major public health need in all communities, including those facing emergency situations.
Pertinent to this is the need for a better communication and knowledge sharing driven by scientific standards and evidence-based practice in Sexual and Reproductive health. The healthcare workers including physicians, nurses, midwives, public health practitioners and others should be adequately knowledgeable in sexual and reproductive health management practices to make a difference at an individual and a larger societal level. It includes developing a scientific approach to public health awareness and social empowerment related to maternal and neonatal health,contraceptive standards, family planning policies and programs, adolescent health, sexually transmitted infections, infertility issues, safe childbearing, reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, male sexual health, socioeconomic aspects of human fertility, approach towards dispelling myths and superstitions, international reproductive policies, etc.
The Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Global Sexual and Reproductive Health Management (APGD- GSRHM) at the James Lind Institute is developed towards helping public health professionals, physicians, nurses, midwives and other volunteers working in public health settings, to establish a thorough understanding of the scientific practices, policies, ethics, legal problems, sociodemographic issues and epistemological practices related to Sexual and Reproductive Health. The program also touches upon management principles and epidemiology which helps sexual and reproductive health professionals to better handle their work in a multi-disciplinary team approach for extenuating the risks and lessen reproductive morbidity and mortality.

What is a credit?
A credit represents the amount of effort that is required to complete the program. Each module credit is equal to approximately 20 hours of study including lecture, tutorial, projects, assignment, field work etc. as may be applicable.
The curriculum for the program – Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Global Sexual & Reproductive Health Management (APGD-GSRHM) is extensive, has been developed and evaluated by experienced healthcare professionals. This program is suitable for people who wish to grow their expertise in this field.
Each lesson that you study online will be followed by a multiple choice question test. These usually comprise of 15 to 20 questions and can be attempted multiple times if needed. Pass percentage is 60%. The next unit in the sequence only unlocks once you have passed the test.
Each module is followed by a project or an assignment. This is like writing an essay in 1000 to 1500 words. The project topic and the guidelines to be followed will be available in your account.
