MORE ABOUT ME
I have worked in clinical research for eleven years as a research pharmacist. I have worked in over 15 randomized clinical research trials which include PMTCT, Rotavirus, HIV management and prevention and HIV-related co-morbidities like TB, cryptococcal meningitis and oral candidiasis.
My duty as a research pharmacist was to ensure the accurate and complete collection of pharmacy –related data from participants.
In addition I ensured the constant availability of study product (ARVs and vaccines) by communicating with suppliers which included Boehringer-Ingelheim, Gilead, GlaxoSmithKline and Abbott. I have been in charge of anti- retroviral stock worth over US$500 000 at any point in time.
My greatest career achievement has been, being part of a team which established an opportunistic infections (mainly HIV) clinic for all ex- HIV research participants. This came after the realization that most ex-research participants were left disadvantaged after clinical trials ended. Other notable achievements include being a team player in protocol development of the EARNEST study and being a co-investigator in a sub study – CLEAR where I ensured fair randomization and blinding of participants.

Having completed my programme I have found that all the material was relevant and has enabled me to be a better practitioner.
I would like to write and edit research – related material including, but not limited to protocols and investigator’ brochures.
I excel at critiquing medical articles.
It was balanced, diverse and informative.
